Construction of Rural Libraries: The Double Significanceof Providing Public Space and Enhancing Social Ethics

在构建覆盖城乡的现代公共文化服务体系的背景下,农村图书馆建设依然面临诸多困境与挑战,推进农村图书馆服务体系建设需要对图书馆的重新认识和发现。文章从空间与伦理的内在联系入手,探讨了在现代化与城市化的浪潮中,农村所面临的传统性公共空间日益衰败而现代性公共空间缺失的挑战,继而带来农村社会的伦理危机。以农村图书馆为代表的现代性公共空间的设计和建设可以作为以空间方式介入社会问题、伦理问题的一种积极途径,在此基础上,农村图书馆建设具有了公共空间与社会伦理双重建构的意义。

Against the background of rapid development of modern public cultural service systems for urban and rural areas, the construction of rural libraries is still facing many diffieulties and challenges. In order to promote the construction of rural libraries, we must understand and re-discover the functions of libraries. The paper starts to discuss the challenges faced by rural areas in the tide of modernization and urbanization from the angle of the connection between space and ethies. Traditional public spaee is gradually deelining. On the other hand, there is a lack of modern public spaee so ethieal crisis is brought to rural soeieties. Library as one of the key public space in modern times, its design and construction can positively serve the needs of rural population and help resolve soeial and ethical problems. From this perspective, the construetion of rural public libraries has a double signifieanee of providing public space and enhancing social ethics at the same time.
