Huang Yi, a learned man in stone and metal and a known calligrapher, served as an official to protect the Canal in Shandong for more than twenty years. As a Canal official, he carried out twice waterway mainte-nance. The primary curing was from the first month of the sixth year of Jiaqing to March, and the second from October to February of the next year. And Huang Yi died of disease in the night before his Canal maintenance was completed.
