Double-narrative contains the narrative basis and possibility of American ethnical identity of Jewish immigrants. For instance, in The Gravedigger' s Daughter, Joyce Carol Oates not only presents the deep narrative structure and ethical reason of Jewish immigrants' double-narrative for American ethnical identity, but also discloses that the construction of American identity neither means the losing of individual identity, nor the self-closing by insisting on the former narrative, hut comes from the delicate balance of double-narrative.
