An Elegy of Qiang Ethnic Group in Central China: Yao Qin Descendants' Ethnic Identity in Tang Dynasty Revealed in the Epigraph

唐代姚秦后裔墓志记载志主名讳、籍贯、家族谱系、卒葬年月、官阶品级、生平事迹、子孙概况,内容丰富,清晰地传递出久居中原的姚氏羌人在以儒家思想为中心的汉文化圈中不断同化,逐渐消融本民族特性,最后完成羌汉融合的信息,唱响了中原羌人的挽歌。文章根据出土墓志和传世文献,考察姚秦后裔民族身份与国家认同、合葬或归葬与任职地域分布,为研究唐代姚秦后裔民族融合提供参考。

The epigraph of Yao Qin descendants in Tang Dynasty has recorded the owners1 names, n- ative places, genealogy, date of death and bury, official rank, life story and something on their off- springs. It has revealed that how the ethnic group of Yao Qiang was assimilated by Confucian culture dur- ing the time when they lived in the central China. And this essay explains Yao Qin descendants＇ethnic i- dentity, their burial and service locations, which will provide references to the study of ethnic fusion re- lated to this topic in Tang Dynasty.
