The paper summed up the intension, extension and characteristics of special protective clothing, as well as the types of hazardous factors that special protective clothing are designed to combat and the goal of protection that they are expected to reach. It also reviewed the currently available protective functions such as fame-retardance, barrier property and electromagnetic shielding, and forecast the developing trends of special protective clothing.
