Yu Shangyuan,and the Modern Change of Chinese Drama

余上沅是二十世纪中国戏剧史上重要的理论家和奠基人,他倡导的戏剧改革实践和"国剧运动"理论推动了中国戏剧的现代变革,促进了中国戏剧向世界化、民族化、艺术化和科学化方向的转型。其理论主张代表着中国戏剧维系根脉、寻求发展的艰辛探索,顺应了艺术发展的潮流,显现着与世界融通过程中的可喜变化。

Yu Shangyuan born in Hubei Province,was an important theorist and founder in the history of Chinese drama in the twentieth century. His drama reform practice and the theory of national drama movement encouraged the modern revolution of Chinese drama and promoted the transformation of Chinese drama in the direction of globalization,nationalization,art and science. His theory represented the hard exploration of the Chinese drama to maintain the root and seek development. It conformed to the trend of artistic development and showed the positive changes of the process of integration with the world.
