Based on an overview of the pedigree of informal housing of new urban immigrants, the paper uses sociological and cultural anthropological methods to contend that mobility causes both the absence of the subject and deprivation of multi-dimensional spatial values on the one hand, and the immigrants based on their living experiences are committed to restoring the sense of presence to reconstruct the interwoven relations with time and space on the other. Ruminations on the dilemma of the housing of urban immigrants in search of universal self-examination involve not only residential ecology and sustainability, but also historical and realistic responsibilities of establishing the spirit to return to the subject in protection of dwelling of human beings.
