湘渝黔边区体育非物质文化遗产资源丰富,国家开展非物质文化遗产保护工作以来,该区域体育非物质文化遗产已形成国家级、省级、市州级、县级四级项目保护名录体系和代表性传承人体系,项目练习人数、竞赛表演、技艺水平提升、民俗旅游开发、学校文体活动开展、项目器材和场地等较保护工作开展之前有较大提高。
