李锐的小说创作一直强调以"人"的表达为核心,自觉甚至偏执地表现人性的丰富性与复杂性。李锐所秉持的是一种以生命为本位的人性观,是一种注重人的生存需要、强调人性的自然本性、竭力去除种种遮蔽、张扬人的生命力的人道主义,其间透露出对个体生命的呵护与关怀。但是,李锐对人的自然本性的强调并不意味着将人还原为动物,张扬愚昧的反智主义,这是因为他的小说反映的是真实存在的生活,其中蕴含着一种人道主义情怀以及哲性提升。

What Li Rui adhered to is a kind of human nature sight that takes life as standard,a kind of the humanitarianism to lay stress on the person＇s existence in the needs and the natural instincts of human nature. The humanitarianism,which goes excluding all sorts of what hides from view and makes widely known the life-force of person,discloses the blessing and the loving care to the individual life. But the stressing of the natural instincts of person does not signify the return to the original condition person to the animal and the ignorant anti-wisdom doctrine.The novel creation of Li Rui reflects the true life that exists,which contains one kind of the humanitarianism feelings as well as the wise nature.
