Spring Moon is a representative work of Bette Bao Lord, an American-Chinese woman writer. In the novel,Spring Moon, a woman born in a big, feudalistic family, is traced through the depiction of the five-generation experience of two old-style families. Bette Bao Lord tries to represent a genuine image of China by merging the hundred-year-long history of a family into the changes that happened over the years and historical development in modern Chinese society, and the double-vision and the trans-cultural characteristics of her novel show that the mutual merging of the different cultures of China and America is possible. This article provides an in-depth discussion of the cross-cultural narrative of China that is Spring Moon, from the perspectives of images of an alien country, cultural identity and narrative strategies, to reveal the special literary and cultural significance of the novel.
