The predictability of atmospheric and oceanic motions: Retrospect and prospects

摘要 针对大气-海洋运动的可预报性,本文回顾了对可预报性概念的认识,讨论了更具一般意义的可预报性的定义.对不同时空尺度天气-气候事件的预报(预测),梳理出了可预报性研究中内禀可预报性上限(Intrinsic predictability limit,IPL)问题的一些未解难题.本文也讨论了初始误差的空间结构与模式参数误差,以及涉及的目标观测问题,给出了未来需要进一步探讨的重要问题.最后,针对业务预报中广泛应用的集合(概率)预报方法,讨论了集合预报-概率预报的可预报性问题及其研究的挑战性,并强调了在随机动力系统中考虑IPL问题的重要性.
