中国古典诗词中的泛灵论及其英译研究

On Animism in Classical Chinese Poems and Its English Translation

泛灵论认为天下万物皆有灵性,不管是有生命还是无生命的物体。中国古典诗词中有很多泛灵论话语,体现了诗人的泛灵论思想,也是诗歌艺术感染力的有机组成部分。译者对中国古典诗词中泛灵论话语的处理可分为五种策略,具体包括删除、弱化、等化、强化和增添,五种策略形成了一种连续体关系,审美效果相对原文而言依次增强。其中,强化和增添策略更能体现译者的主体性与创造性,也有利于提高译文作为独立文本的价值。

Animism holds that all things in the world have souls or consciousness,whether they have life or not. There are many animistic expressions in classical Chinese poems,which,to a large degree,carry the poets＇ outlook of animism and contribute to the artistic appeal of the poems. As to the English translation of those animistic expressions,there are five strategies adopted by the translator,namely,omitting,weakening,reproducing,strengthening,and adding. These five methods constitute a kind of continuum. And the latter two methods,namely,strengthening and adding,embodying the translator＇s subjectivity and creativity,usually lead to better esthetic effect compared with that of the former three,which helps to enhance the independent value of the translated poems in the target culture.
