中国特色社会主义的根本任务是解放和发展生产力,逐步实现共同富裕。服务于此的中国特色社会主义政治经济学的研究对象就不能不包括生产力,既要研究中国特色社会主义生产关系的发展和完善问题,又要从社会层面研究我国生产力的发展问题,将二者并重。马克思生产力理论的一般内容,可以为建设中国特色社会主义、构建中国特色社会主义政治经济学理论体系提供丰富的思想材料和理论指导。此外,马克思生产力理论的人本价值取向与中国特色社会主义政治经济学的根本立场是一脉相承的。
