Beyond Apocalypse: The Return and Future of Urban Ecocriticism

近年来,生态批评虽已成为文学理论界的显学,但其城市维度一直没有受到研究者的重视。尽管近三年国外学界的城市生态批评研究出现了复归之势,但是研究视角与认知逻辑依然存在局限。城市生态批评不应依赖末日论式的修辞话语或反城市的感伤情绪,而应置身于城市自然的视域之内,彻底解构和超越自然与城市二元对立的研究范式,重新建构并定位城市的生态功能,厘清城市文学的生态脉络。在新世纪生态批评发展的关口,城市生态批评研究不仅是其中不可替代的组成部分,也具有重要的现实与文化意义。

Although ecocriticism has been widely accepted in the literary academia,its urban dimension still receives little attention. In the past three years,urban ecocriticism has revived among the western scholars,but its critical perspective and speculative logic are to some extent prejudiced. Instead of relying on apocalypse discourses or anti-urban sentiments,urban ecocriticism should be located within the urban natural environment and strive to go beyond the dualistic paradigm,repositioning the city's ecological functions. Inevitably,urban ecocriticism would become an essential component of ecocritical studies and play a significant role in the real world and the cultural sphere in future.
