Using multiculturalism, this article compares the lives and careers of Pearl S. Buck, Lin Yutang, and Maxine Hong Kingston, exploring their cultural contexts, identity differences, and representative works. They represent three patterns of cultural blending between China and the United States, involving the dominant culture and the minority culture. Thus, the three patterns have impacted the development of multiculturalism in the U.S.
