Big data and artificial intelligence era will bring a revolution in the field of higher education. This revolution will not only deeply impact on the learning model of college students, but also bring unprecedented challenges to teachers. This paper will first analyze the characteristics and problems of geographic information science education in big data and artificial intelligence era. Then, from the aspects of teachers and students respectively, we discuss the new opportunities and challenges in the new era.
