Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture on lower extremity vascular disease in type 2 diabetic rats with Qi defi- ciency and blood stasis syndrome. Methods 35 male SD rats were divided into two groups : control group of 7, model group of 14 and acu- puncture group of 14. The high fat diet, rhubarb combined with multiple intravenous injection of a small dose of streptozotocin (STZ) of qi deficiency and blood stasis rat model of type 2 diabetes, Yu Xue, Zusanli acupuncture pancreas intervention, dynamic observation of acu- puncture effect on the expression of LOX - 1 in serum of Ox - LDL vein and femora/in type 2 diabetic rats. Reslflts Compared with the con- trol group, the expression of model group rats serum levels of Ox - LDL and LOX - 1 protein increased significantly (P 〈 0. 05 ), compared with the model group, the expression of acupuncture group rats serum levels of Ox - LDL and LOX - 1 protein decreased significantly (P 〈 0. 05 ). Conclusion The serum Ox - LDL levels in type 2 diabetic rats increased significantly, suggesting the occurrence of vasculopathy, and acupuncture intervention could inhibit the vascular lesion in type 2 diabetic rats by decreasing the expression of LOX - 1 protein.
