川美具有开放、多元、包容的精神。艺术批评与艺术理论对创作也具有重要作用。1998年,川美建立艺术史论系,这是一个重要的转折点,经过近20年的发展,培养了一大批新锐批评家。艺术批评与艺术创作的结合,在川美有很好的传统。

Open, multiplex and tolerant are major characters of SCFAI. Art criticism and art theory have exerted significant influence on creation. The Department of Art History was established in SCFAI in 1998, which is an important turning point, and after 20 years development, a great number of emerging artists have come out from this department. There is a strong connection between art criticism and art creation, which is a good tradition in SCFAI.
