宝山灵泉寺乃魏晋南北朝至隋唐时期,北方重要的佛寺之一,有"河朔第一古刹"之称。寺中崖壁间雕凿有僧俗墓龛210座,依照形象的不同可分为塔型墓龛、碑型墓龛、屋型墓龛,不同的形象蕴含着不同的文化函意,塔型墓龛象征着佛教文化中的阿育王塔,碑型墓龛象征着中华传统丧葬观念中的墓碑文化,屋型墓龛象征着宗庙祠堂文化。

Lingquan Temple known as The First Ancient Temple in Hesu, had been one of the most famous Buddhist Temples in North China since Northern Dynasties to Sui and Tang dynasties. 210 Tomb shrines of monks and laymen were carved on the cliff in the temple. Shrines can be divided into different niches： stupa niches, stela niches and house ni＇ches according to the image of the tower. Various types of niches convey different cultural meanings. Stupa niches, representing thoughts of Chakravartin, were established by imitating the Ashoka stupa. Patterns of stela niches came from traditional Chinese burial culture while house niches were constructed by stimulating ancient Chinese ancestral shrine.
