On Su Dongpo's Achievements in Hainan

苏东坡居琼三年的功业表现为三大方面:一是学术及文学艺术之功:他在儒学著述、文学理论、文学创作、书法创作等方面都取得了显著成就;二是在海南文化教育史上的"风开溟南"之功:他在海南文化教育史上开创局面的崇高地位,以及他对其后海南历史文化进程所产生的巨大影响,可谓文化史的一大奇迹;三是为海南留下历史胜迹遗产之功:海南两个全国重点文物保护单位中,东坡书院乃因苏东坡而建立,五公祠则是依托苏东坡发现并题咏的双泉而建立的。

Su Dongpo＇s achievements during the 3 years of his stay in Hainan include 3 fields. The first is his great achievement in academic and literary arts. He made remarkable achievements in Confucian writings,literary theory,literary creation and calligraphy creation. The second is his initiation of the educational tradition in Hainan. His status in the educational history of Hainan and his great influence on the progress of history and culture after him can be called a great wonder. The third is the historical sites he left to Hainan. The only 2 key historical sites under state protection are Dongpo Academy and Temple of Five Lords. But the former one was established in memory of Su Dongpo and the latter one was established after Su Dongpo＇s discovery and his inscription to Double Springs there.
