Thai kinship terms with a long history and complex semantic features are rich and colorful.This paper gives a sememic analysis of some Thai kinship terms and their systems and collocations,which reveals the essential features of the semantic field of Thai kinship terms.Kinship terms are a kind of vocabulary with typical characteristics of a national culture.The study of the Thai kinship terms can not only provide some linguistic reference and evidence for the evolution of the Thai society and culture,but also have great significance to the research on the marriage system and gender differences in ancient Thailand as well as its history and culture.
