永远的外邦人——论家文化与海外华人移民及后裔的“俄狄浦斯伤痕”

"Eternal Gentiles" —— On Family Culture and the Oedipus' scar of Overseas Chinese Immigrants and Their Descendants

华裔学者林瑛敏曾说:"在美国,对于一个非白种人来说,即使他的生活不因父辈通婚或者住所变迁而错综复杂,他也始终摆脱不了一种世界之间的处境。"即华裔或华人移民在美国或其他移民国家之所以一直处于文化边缘地带的根本原因不在于父辈的婚姻,也不在于住所的变动,而是作为少数群体的华裔在强势的英语白人文化中心面前所表现出的无能为力。这种隔阂感与西方经典悲剧人物俄狄浦斯有相似之感,俄狄浦斯王身上的每一道伤疤都是外邦人的印记,因为每一次受伤后,他的身份就会被换至为外邦人。在海外的华人移民,虽然已在异乡扎根发芽,但是总会在政治、权益、情感等多方面受到伤害,每一次的伤害就像俄狄浦斯身上的伤疤,虽然无形,但是伤人心。本文试从"俄狄浦斯伤痕"和家文化角度,探究海外华人移民及后裔身上的"永远的外邦人"的属性。

Ethnic Chinese scholars Amy Ling said： ＂In the United States, for a non-white man, even if his life was not complicated by his father＇s marriage or the vicissitudes of his life, he would never be able to escape from the world.＂ That Chinese or Chinese immigrants in the United States or other countries have been at the root of the cultural edge does not lie in their parents＇ marriage, or the change of their residence, but in the incompetence of Chinese as a minority ethnic in front of the culture stronglycentered on white English. This sense of estrangement has the similar feeling as western classical tragedy character called Oedipus.Each scar on King Oedipus is the stamp of the gentiles, because every time after an injury, his identity will be changed to be a gentile. Overseas Chinese immigrants, though living in a foreign land, always be involved in political affairs, and are easily to get hurt in rights, interests, and emotional aspects. Every hurt, like scars on Oedipus, is invisible but heartbreaking. This paper attempts to explore the properties of ＂Eternal Gentile＂ from overseas Chinese immigrants and their descendants from the perspectives of ＂Oedipus＇ scar＂ and family culture.
