The trimming of the archaeological data available to date reflected that the Ba-Shu script are mainly distributed in the strip-shaped zone in the west of Sichuan Basin centered by Chengdu Plain and the Three Gorges area from Chongqing to Zhijiang. The 272 characters of Ba-Shu script include human-shaped, animal- shaped, plant-shaped, utensil-shaped, architecture-shaped, geometric types, etc., the dates of which are from the early Warring-States Period to the early Western Han Dynasty. The Ba-Shu script has some special compound assemblages, the importance and complexity of the orientations of which are coexisting, and the discussions on them should be associated with the functions of the utensils bearing them. No ethnic and racial differences have been found on the characters of the Ba-Shu script, but it cannot be excluded that they have tribal or regional characteristics.
