Objective: To explore the effect of narrative therapy in children's self-concept. Method:Totally 20 children with lower self-concept and 23 children with higher self-concept received narrative therapy for 10 times. The Children's self-concept scale( PHCSS) was used to assess the two groups before and after the treatment. Results: After 10 treatments,PHCSS scores( t = 10. 126) and sub-scores on behaviors( t = 3. 259),intellectual and school status( t = 5. 449),physical appearance and attributes( t = 4. 069),well-being and satisfaction( t = 4. 374) all increased significantly to normal in children with lower self-concept( P 0. 01). PHCSS scores( t = 4. 383) and sub-scores on intellectual and school status( t = 3. 102),somato-physiognomy and attribute( t = 3. 952) all decreased significantly to normal in children with higher self-concept( P 0. 01). Conclusion: Narrative therapy is effective in promoting children's self-concept.
