An Analysis of the Relationships between Couples in The Second Bakery Attack

在多数研究者从"我"的主体丧失这一角度解读《再袭面包店》时,由石仓美智子所提出的"夫妻关系"这一视角为解读该短篇提供了新的空间。但石仓所谓"抢劫"是妻子想要完成的、确认夫妻关系的仪式这一论述却未能反映小说的全貌。事实上,《再袭面包店》是村上春树通过"我"对现实社会中的夫妻关系进行的一次全面性思考。

Most researchers interpret The Second Bakery Attack from the aspect of the loss of subjectivity of ＂I＂, while Michiko Ishikura provides a new way to understand this short story by emphasizing the relationship between the ＂couples＂. She argues that the ＂robbery＂ was a rite that the wife used to affirm the spousal relationship. What Ishikura states, however, fails to reflect the full view of this short story. In fact, through the experiences of the leading character of The Second Bakery Attack, Haruki Murakami illustrates his comprehensive thinking about the relationship between couples in a highly-developed capitalist society.
