The thought of engineering sciences been fully carried out in the formulating process of the mechanics planning of the twelve-year science planning in 1956. The mechanics planning established that mechanics belonged to engineering sciences. It presented many desperately - needed and new disciplines or research fields from the perspective of engineering sciences. It also put forward some concrete development measures in personnel training, academic research. The implementation of the mechanics planning had a comprehensive and profound impact on the development of mechanics in China.
