作为潮州诗歌总集编纂史上的殿军之作,《潮州诗萃》经过温廷敬对历代潮州人诗作、诗集及相关史实所进行的全面系统的清理,确实踵越前人,成为了集大成之作。然而更应值得重视的是:温廷敬对潮州诗歌兴起的源流所进行的细致严谨的考索、推求与阐述,富有创见地线性书写出了潮州诗歌自唐直至民国初年的发展历程。

Chao Zhou Shi Cui, which has been compiled by Wen Tingjing, goes beyond a lot of previous works in the field of poetry of Chaozhou. But more worthy of the researchers should be Wen Tingjing＇s research on the origin of Chaozhou Poetry. He describe the development on the process from the Tang Dynasty until the early years of the Republic of Chaozhou poetry.
