Based on the study of foodies in Guangzhou, this article tries to discuss how foodies express and defend their taste and construct different types of fun in the global context and China’s transitional background. This study points out that food is no longer used to meet the basic physiological need but the tool of pursuing the feeling of freshness.Food romantic ethics have been taking root and expanding in China.Except for the social distinction and hierarchy factors,self-orientation motivations, such as the pursuit of novelty, experience, fun and comfort, are also the key factors to explain the consumption model and the orientation of the consumers especially young people in contemporary China.
