Gulangyu Island is the earliest place where western sports were carried out in modern China under westernization,and also an important birthplace of Chinese sports. It set the precedent for the construction of public sports services in modern China and built up the prominence and important value of Gulangyu Island in modern sports history of China. It has been pregnant with rich resources of sports culture and humanistic value in the process of modern sports development,which is an important part of cultural heritage to be further excavated and studied.
