《时代公论》是1930年代初期宣传抗战救国的重要刊物,针对当时的中日"亲善"外交,它指出:广田所谓的对华"友善"实质是"口蜜腹剑"的欺骗手段,目的是想采取一种柔性的外交措施来缓和与列强的关系,巩固其在东北及华北的侵略成果;国民党政府赴日求和的亲日外交只会唾面自干,认敌为友的亲日主张将陷中华民族于万劫不复的境地;日本对华的"亲善"是一种渐进的侵略,对华的经济"提携"则是为了独霸中国市场,国民党政府不必抱薪救火与之"亲善、提携",而应堂堂正正地提出"保障安全"的最低要求。《时代公论》对1930年代初期中日"亲善"外交的批判,说明国民党政府的亲日外交政策不得人心。

Era Public Comments was one of the most important journals,which publicized anti-Japan and national salvation policies in the early 1930 s. With regard to the Sino-Japan'goodwill diplomacy'of the time,Era Public Comments argued that Hirota's so-called'goodwill'was in substance deception or a Judas kiss. It was aimed at easing the tension between Japan and other foreign powers by employing flexible measures,so as to consolidate Japan's invading gains in north-east and north China. Kuomintang government's representative would go to Japan to ask for peace but this would only drain the cup of humiliation,while their pro-Japan proposal,which regarded enemies as friends,would leave the Chinese people in everlasting perdition. Japan's 'goodwill'towards China actually served the purpose of a gradual invasion of China; Japan'guided and supported'China's economy just for the purpose of dominating China's market exclusively. Kuomintang government should not accept Japan' s 'goodwill'or 'guide and support',which is just like to carry faggots to put out a fire,but should claim openly to Japan for the minimum request——to'guarantee the safety'of China instead. Era Public Comments' criticism on Kuomintang government's Sino-Japan 'goodwill diplomacy'in the early 1930 s showed that Kuomintang government's Pro-Japanese diplomacy went against the will of the people.
