A New Research on Qu Yuan's Birth Year, Death Year and Lifespan

关于屈原的生年、卒年和享年的确定,至今仍众说纷纭、莫衷一是。关于屈原的生年,学界分别有公元前335年、公元前339年、公元前340年和公元前353年诸说。关于屈原的卒年,学界分别有公元前277年、公元前278年、公元前296年、公元前299年诸说。关于屈原的享年,学界此前一致确定为62岁。如果将可信的历史文献、与屈原有密切关系的历史人物,以及屈原留下的作品进行综合对照研究,上述诸说均有其内在矛盾和不能通解之处。屈原生年应以公元前353年为宜;屈原卒年应以公元前278年为宜;而屈原享年应以74岁更加接近历史真实。

The literary circles believe that Qu Yuan might be born in Year 335 BC, Year 339 BC, Year 340 BCor Year 353 BC, and may die in Year 277 BC, Year 278 BC, Year 296 BC or Year 299 BC. Previously the academiccircles reached an agreement that Qu Yuan lived for 62 years. But when the reliable historic data, the historic figuresclosely related with Qu Yuan, and the works Qu Yuan has left are combined to investigate comprehensively, theopinions mentioned above are contradictory inherently and incomprehensible in some aspects. According to theinvestigation, the year for Qu's birth and for his death should be in Year 353 BC and Year 278 BC respectively. Thataltogether he has lived for 74 years is closer to the truth.
