维摩诘变对唐代士大夫的影响

作为印度早期大乘佛教的重要经典,《维摩诘经》塑造刻画了一个智慧通达、游戏神通、辩才无碍的维摩诘居士形象,其大乘智慧和居家修禅的修行方式令人称道。《维摩诘经》传入中国后,特别是维摩诘变的大量衍生,对唐代士大夫产生了很大的影响。它不仅使唐代士大夫在家出家这一修行方式获得理论上的支持,也使他们在面对出世入世等矛盾时获得精神上的消解。同时为唐代士大夫的诗歌创作提供了素材,成为他们诗歌创作的一大灵感源泉。

As an important classic of Mahayana Buddhism in the early Indian,the Vimalakirti Sutra depicts the image of Vimalakirti,who is intelligent,knowledgeable,and dialectical with his admirable Mahayana wisdom and the Zen practice at home. With the Vimalakirti Sutra being introduced into China,the reproduction the Vimalakirti＇s picture exert an important effect on the Tang Dynasty Scholar-bureaucrats. It not only gives a theoretical support to the practice at home,but also gives them mental dissolving in the face of contradictions such as going into society and retreating from society. At the same time,this provides the Tang Dynasty Scholar-bureaucrats with materials and a great source of inspiration in their poetic writing.
