传统的北美华文文学大多在思乡、离散和孤独的笔调中表现外在世界异质文化的冲突与对抗,而美国华人作家陈谦却将笔触转向人的内心世界。她的小说通过描写一批身在硅谷的中国人婚姻与事业以及理想与现实的矛盾挣扎,进而探索人类在个体情感、生存困境和历史创痛等方面遭遇的精神困厄。

Traditional North American Chinese literature mostly expresses the external world of heterogeneous cultural conflict and confrontation in the depiction of homesickness,separation and loneliness,while Chen Qian,an American Chinese writer,focuses on the pains of people＇s inner world.Chen Qian＇s novels explore the spiritual distress in three areas：individual emotions,historical pains and human survival difficulties by describing the contradictions and struggles of a group of Chinese in Silicon Valley between marriage and career,ideal and reality.
