中国人对佛教文化的贡献是长期的、巨大的、不可替代的、具有世界意义的。正因为有了这样的贡献,佛教才能从一个地方宗教发展成为亚洲宗教,进而发展成为世界宗教;当代世界佛教才能具有这样的内在精神和外在风貌;我们今天才能对佛教历史文化具有如此丰富的知识。加强研究中国人对佛教文化的保存、弘扬和丰富,有利于树立对中华民族传统文化的自觉、自信和自尊,有利于为今天中国文化走向世界提供可资借鉴的历史经验。

The contribution of Chinese people to Buddhist culture is long-term, huge, irreplaceable and of worldwide significance. Just because of Chinese contribution, Buddhism could develop from a regional religion to Asia religion, and then become a world religion. Just because of Chinese contribution, Contemporary world Buddhism can have the kind of inherent spirit and external style. Just because of Chinese contribution, we can today have such a rich knowledge on the history and culture of Buddhism. To strengthen the study of Chinese preservation, advancement and enrichment of Buddhism culture is conducive to establish self-consciousness, self-confidence and self-esteem on the Chinese traditional culture, and to provide historical reference for promoting Chinese culture to the world.
