家族是社会的缩影,传统家族的解体反映出社会的深刻变革。福克纳和莫言的小说《我弥留之际》和《丰乳肥臀》所描述的都是下层社会普通老百姓的家庭与婚姻。作品所影射的内容是分崩离析的旧南方和中国的封建社会。通过对社会文化背景的分析,两位作家在作品中对寻根文化都进行了否定与批判。他们的共同之处在于相信人们应把自己的命运掌握在自己手中。他们都是自己文化传统的叛逆者,又是其文化的继承者和发展者。
