On the ontological origin and practical feasibility of forgiveness

宽恕在西方是涉神的,是凡人实现救赎的重要途径。在中国它是传统道德价值的核心内涵之一。宽恕源于人类实践的本体论焦虑,本质上是通过把人的有限性融入上帝或道的无限性中以实现救赎或"得道"。但宽恕面临理论和实践上的双重困境,致使其道德价值和实践可行性存疑,澄清这一问题有重要的现实意义,因为如果在宽恕的道德意义上存疑,就会影响我们的现实判断,也无助于培养社会的宽容心态与和谐氛围。

While acting as a part of the core value in Chinese traditional morality, the forgiveness is God -related in the west.It originates from ontological anxiety in human practice.In essence, through incorporating the limitation of human beings into infinity of God or Dao, forgiveness consequently makes significant pathway for mortals to achieve redemption or get in Dao respectively. However, forgiveness is facing a dual dilemma that the practical application and theoretical explanation of forgiveness is debatable. Thus, if moral value and practical feasibility of the forgiveness are still in doubt, this puzzlement will affect our realistic judgment, and be not conducive to cultivating a harmony atmosphere and creating a tolerant society. Therefore, clarifying these problems is of great significance in reality.
