荀子论人成善的可能性

The Possibility of One Becoming Good from Xunzi

荀子认为人性本恶的设定,面临人何以可以成善、如何能够成善的疑问。荀子认为君子小人本性并无不同,成为什么样的人关键在于是否能对其加以控制。性虽不可去除,但可以加以节制,能够控制自我就能化性起伪。现实中人可以通过学习圣人先王了解各种行为规则、在礼义法律的约束引导中以校正自我,形成良好行为习惯、有意识的长期自我磨砺等途径向善为善。

Xunzi faces such problems whether one person has possibility to become good and how he becomes good when he insisted human nature is originally evil.Xunzi thought that gentleman and villain have no different nature,the key factors that what kind of person one could develop to be depend whether one could control his evil nature.Human nature could not be eradicated,but it could be controlled,if one could control himself,he could transform evil human nature by reform.In practice,one could pursue good and do good things if he could understand all kinds of rule of behavior through studying sages and excellent kings,correct oneself and form good habits under restrain and guide of courtesy and law,and self-train consciously for a long time.
