On the Political Factors of the Controversy about Nestorius of the Christian Church in the Early Stage of the Byzantine Empire

聂斯脱利是基督教历史上聂斯脱利派的领袖,他也是428—431年拜占庭帝国首都君士坦丁堡教会的主教,基督教会围绕他的神学观点发生的争端造成基督教会分裂,由此产生的暴力冲突导致帝国社会秩序的破坏。在这次争端中,教会内部的权力斗争是聂斯脱利争端中不可忽视的因素,但是,政治因素占据极为重要的地位,最终包括帝国首都在内各地社会秩序的失控致使掌权者不再支持聂斯脱利,导致了聂斯脱利派在争端中的失败。

Nestorius was the leader of the Nestorians in the history of the Christian Church. From AD. 428 to431,he was also the bishop of the church of Constantinople which was the capital of the Byzantine Empire.The controversy surrounded his theological ideas once caused the divisiveness of the Christian Church,and the violent confrontations arising from it resulted in the disruption of the social order of the empire. In this controversy of the Christian Church,the political factors occupied the very important position in this conflict. The power struggle inside the church was the factor which could not be neglected in the controversy about Nestorius,but at last,the out of control of the social order of the everywhere in the empire including the capital,played the decisive role in the controversy.
