译介学视角下的民族志译者角色研究——以贺大卫为例

On Ethnographic Translator's Roles from Media-translatology:a Case Study of David Holm

本文以贺大卫的壮文化典籍民族志英译为例,认为译介学理论对民族典籍外译有重要的启示与指导作用。民族典籍的译入和译出是多维的民族志文化翻译,是系统的跨文化交流行为,都会受意识形态、社会背景、文化语境、民族审美情趣、译者取舍、接受者习惯等各种文本内外因素的影响。民族志译者要扮演源语研习者、文化收集者、文化解说员、文本制作者和深度翻译者等五重角色,才能做好民族志研究与翻译工作。基于数据分析的民族志译者描述性研究显得更加客观公正,说服力强。

On the basis of David Holm＇s ethnographic translations of the Zhuang＇ ethnic cultural classics,the present paper holds that the theories of media-translatology are of great important guid-ance for the translation studies of ethnic classics. Whether incoming or outgoing, such translation, as cross-cultural communication behaviors, makes multi-dimensional ethnographic and cultural version, which will be influenced by ideology, social background, cultural context, ethnic aesthetic appeal,translator＇s choice, recipient habits and other factors inside and outside of the text. Only by acting as source language learners, text-makers, culture collectors, culture interpreters and deep translators, can the translators do a good job at such ethnographic study and translation. Relevant descriptive stud-ies of ethnographic translators on the basis of data analysis will prove to be objectively fairer and more convincing.
