Go and Culture——Game of Go in Society of Taiwan

任何文化产物之所以能够形成世界性的影响,无外因其中蕴含着人类所共同需要,或者容易引起共同的兴趣的成分。围棋是中国传统文化的结晶,也与中国人的古典精神世界相通。近年来传统文化对台湾社会的影响力已今非昔比,但琴棋书画的"四艺"之道,旧风尤存。从围棋在台湾地区的发展和普及状况看,其涵化人心、促进中华文化认同的力量,应值得重视。

Cultural products can have significant great influences, because they contain some elements which are needed and can provoke some common interests. As a product of Chinese traditional culture, Go contains some philosophy native to China. In recently years, traditional cultures＇ influence with society of Taiwan was not as it used to be. However, from the standpoint of development and popularization of Go in society of Taiwan, it is worth emphasizing that game of Go has some kind of power in affecting people’s thoughts and intensifying cultural identity invisibly in Taiwan.
