WK-55 electric shovels are the main mining machines in the open-pit coal mine. Since the beginning of 2010, our company has purchased the model of machine from TZ, which play very important role in the mining production. As the operating hours increase, shovel hoist drum stubs have experienced some different degree of failures. This article analyzes the repair technology and application of WK-55 electric shovel hoisting drum failure as well as including the root cause analysis for the hoist drum failure.
