可持续发展思想已成为一个跨学科、多层面的学术理论范畴 ,成为涉及社会各个领域的宏观整体思想。现代远程教育可持续发展的本质是以人为本的人的全面发展 ,其核心观念在于发展中的“协调” ,不仅仅强调现代远程教育与自然的关系 ,而且还体现为协调好现代远程教育系统中各种要素 ,有效地利用和整合国内外各级各类教育资源 。

The thought of sustainable development is becoming a trans disciplined and multi laid concept in academic theory, which is involved in the macroscopic thought in various social fields. The essence of the sustainable development of modern distance education is the overall development of human being itself, of which the most important factor is 'coordination' in the developing process which not onlyemphasizes on coordinating the relations between the nature and the modern distance education, but also includes how to coordinate variety of essential factors in modern distance education system, and use various kinds of foreign and domestic education resources efficiently to push forward the sustainable development of the modern distance education.
