The Distribution of Ethnic Minorities in Sichuan During Tang Dynasty

唐朝时期是四川地区少数民族重要的发展时期,其成员既有从先秦以来到隋朝时期就迁徙、居住在这里的各民族,如氐人、羌人、蛮僚、磨些等民族;同时也有在唐朝时期才逐步形成并迁徙到这里的民族,如吐蕃人。这些少数民族主要分布在川西、川西南和川东南地区,如:羌人主要分布在川西高原上;氐人主要活动在川西北地区;乌蛮和白蛮主要分布在川西南地区;僚人主要分布于四川盆地周围山区及岷、沱二江中下游及渠江上游地区,以及盆地的南部,尤其是长江南岸地区;磨些人主要在今云南西北和四川西南的金沙江上游及雅砻江流域一带;吐蕃人到唐朝末年分布在今甘孜州、阿坝州和凉山州的部分地区;武陵蛮主要分布在川东南地区。

Tang dynasty is an important period of development of ethnic minorities in Sichuan.These ethnic minorities such as Di nationality,Qiang nationality,migrated and lived here from the pre-qin period to the Sui dynasty.There were also ethnic minorities forming and migrating in the period of the Tang dynasty such as Tubo people.These minorities are mainly distributed in Western Sichuan,southwest Sichuan,and southeast Sichuan regions.Qiang people are mainly distributed in Western plateau of Sichuan.Di people lived mainly in northwest Sichuan.Wuman and Baiman lived mainly in southwest Sichuan.Lao people lived mainly in the mountains around the Sichuan basin,the middle and lower reaches of Minjiang and Tuojiang rivers and the upstream area of Qujiang River,especially the south region area of Yangtze River.Moxie people lived mainly in Jinsha River upstream of southwest Sichuan and Yalong river basin.Tubo people lived in the today' s Ganzi,Aba and some parts of Liangshan prefecture to the late Tang dynasty.Wulingman was mainly distributed in the southeast Sichuan.
