It was an evening in early winter. My brother came running in from outside. Panting, he told me that our neighbor had caught a bird, and that it had long legs, a pointed beak, white plumage and a crown. ＂It＇s probably a white crane,＂ he guessed, basing his judgment on pictures he had seen in books and trademark designs.
