《直觉》是古德曼将创作思路逐渐引向新浪潮小说创作这一处女地的代表,小说中无处不在的时代因素,如城市背景、科技发展和知识分子群体等,为从城市视角描绘当代美国犹太裔作家坚守、发展传统犹太性打开了一扇窗。小说以古德曼的叙事空间意识指向为出发点,借助于城市社会空间的多重隐喻意义,展现漫游人物的城市空间体验、精神之旅,具化当代犹太人的城市生活图景及美国现实社会的空间图谱,以此关注、反思当代犹太人的漫游生活状态,揭示新生代犹太作家如何结合时代特色和空间文学内涵去演绎犹太意识。

Intuition is a masterpiece that is widely viewed as heralding the new creative thoughts of Jewish writing.In this novel, the ubiquitous factors of epoch, such as urban background, scientific and technological advancement,the intellectuals, etc., open up a new opportunity for contemporary Jewish-American writers to develop and adhere faithfully to Jewishness from the view of city. Grounded on that, this thesis, by means of the multiple connotations of urban social space, adopts Goodman＇s ideas of narrative space, elaborating the spiritual journey and contemporary Jews＇ spatial experience of modern city, reifying the view of their urban life and the spatial map of America reality.In this way, this thesis probes into the wandering life of them and the ways that Jewish writers of new generation incorporate the literary connotations of space and factors of epoch into their awareness of Jewishness.
