Waterborne unsaturated polyester sizing agents for carbon fibers

摘要 采用芳香二羧酸、间苯二甲酸-5-磺酸钠、马来酸酐和乙二醇等单体共聚,通过酯化和缩聚反应,合成了不含及含萘环结构的2种水性不饱和聚酯碳纤维上浆剂,分别称为WPETi和WPETn,对它们的分子结构进行表征,并测定了其乳液和浆膜的性能。结果表明:以1,4-萘二甲酸取代间苯二甲酸合成WPETn,在一定程度上抑制了醚化副反应,促进了不饱和双键的异构化转变,提高了聚酯的玻璃化转变温度,使水性不饱和聚酯的力学性能、耐热性、热稳定性及其对碳纤维的润湿性都得到了改善。 Through esterification and polycondensation by using monomers such as aromatic dicarboxylic acids, isophthalic acid-5-sodium sulfoacid, maleic anhydride, and ethylene glycol, two kinds of waterborne unsaturated polyester sizing agents for carbon fibers with and without naphthalene ring structure, respectively named as WPETi and WPETn, were synthesized. The molecular structures of WPETi and WPETn were characterized, and the properties of their emulsions and films were tested. The results showed that by using the 1, 4-naphthalic acid to synthesize the WPETn instead of the isophthalic acid, the side reaction of etherifieation was inhibited to some extent, the isomerization shift of the unsaturated double bonds was promoted, and the glass transition temperature of polyester was increased, so that the mechanical properties, heat resistance, thermal stability and wetting property on carbon fibers of the waterborne unsaturated polyester were improved.
