李刚己是桐城派融纳畿辅文人群体、传道北方的中坚人物,"莲池学派"第四代的典型代表。为学融通中西,以致用为本,形成了其诗古文才学并驶、清刚雄深的艺术风格。他祖述桐城文统,以斯文为己任,秉承了"莲池学派"固有的文学观,提出"行谊文章相待为用"的观点;其诗除强调诗教之旨外,亦多儒家游心于艺的风雅情致,对莲池派诗学的形成有着重要的作用。

Li Gangji is a typical representative of the fourth generation of Lotus School.He learned that by merging Chinese and Western,formed an artistic style of freshness and depth.He followed the Tongcheng literary tradition,with gentle responsibility,adhering to the＂Lotus School＂inherent in the concept of literature,put forward＂cycico treatment＂for the point of view; it emphasizes the purpose of poetry except,also,in art elegant Confucian Qingqu,has an important role in the formation of Lotus School Poetics.
