借助对政治经济学批判从"名词"到"动词"转换的分析,约翰·霍洛威区分了"时钟时间"与"行动时间",前者作为一种同一性的力量,它的持续性封闭了每一个时刻。现在"行动时间"正好颠倒过来,它开启每一个时刻作为可能性的时刻。行动时间作为一种守护人自身尊严的时间,要求人们必须从抽象劳动时间作为法则的资本世界中撤离出来。但是,这种激进政治方案显然遮蔽了资本主义客观基础的分析,进而错误地颠倒了两种时间的历史发生的秩序,也遗忘了"经济关系的无声的强制保证资本家对工人的统治"。
