长颈鹿误食牵牛花籽实中毒治疗一例

Treatment of Giraffe Food Poisoning by Seeds of Morning Glory

长颈鹿是生长于非洲的反刍动物,在野外以多种植物的叶子为食,而动物园内饲养的长颈鹿主要以各种树叶、苜蓿等为食。本报道中的病例是由于食用的桑树枝叶中含有牵牛花籽实,虽然牵牛花籽实具有药用价值,但由于其中含有多种生物碱,因此长颈鹿误食后引起了中毒,中毒后的动物主要表现为消化系统症状。对于本病例的治疗,研究者主要通过去除桑树枝条上缠绕的含牵牛花藤蔓,防止长颈鹿误食,并促进体内毒物排出,最终此病例取得了良好的治疗效果。

Giraffe is a ruminant native to Africa. In the wild,it mainly feeds on tree leaves,but in captivity it is fed various of leaves and alfalfa. Here we report on the treatment of a giraffe that ate the seeds of morning glory along with mulberry leaves. Though the seed of morning glory is used as a traditional Chinese medicine,it contains many alkaloids that can poison giraffes. The poisoned animal mainly showed gastrointestinal symptoms. After removing the seeds of morning glory mixed in with mulberry leaves and accelerating the detox,the prognosis of this case was good.
