Building Database of Language and Culture Taboos of Nations Along the Belt and Road Initiative Zones

在"一带一路"发展战略的背景下,我国将会有更多的人员在所谓的"小语种"国家实地驻外工作,这样的工作场景面临着语言文化冲突所带来的实际问题。若对目标国的语言文化禁忌没有充分了解,有可能造成双方合作的直接失败,甚至有可能引发冲突,对人员的财产与生命都带来威胁。建设"一带一路"区域的语言文化禁忌多媒体数据库,不但可以为驻外工作人员提供实用参考,为区域性合作发展的顺利进行增加保障,还可以为我国收集一手的、实地的他国语言文化战略储备,对区域性的安全与稳定也具有重要意义。

With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, more Chinese citizens are going to work in countries of the socalled "minority languages", where they would face the challenges of conflicts from different languages and cultures. An insufficiency in understanding the taboos in these countries may directly lead to failures in cooperation or even conflicts with local people, which would result in damages to our citizens' life and property. Building a database of the language and culture taboos of the nations along the zones of the Belt and Road Initiative could provide practical references for the citizens working in these countries and also enhance the strategic reserve of the languages and cultures in the regions.
